I, along with my husband, have been a full-time RVer since 1993. We spend time both in cities and on public lands. Over the years we’ve seen an increase in the number of people living in vans and RVs. Many are doing this out of desperation because they can no longer afford to make rent or mortgage payments. In some cases, they are not aware of the resources available such as free camping on public land and inexpensive solar systems. Just a small amount of help can make a big difference in their lives.

I’ve been involved with the community that Bob Wells created through his blog, forum, YouTube channel, and RTR gatherings for many years – volunteering as a moderator on the forums and providing assistance to members when they needed it. The HOWA non-profit is an exciting venture for me because I’ve long been concerned about the problems new, inexperienced, and often scared van dwellers face. As a trustee, I believe that my experience as a full-time RVer and also my life experiences in blue-collar jobs which made practicing frugality a necessity will be beneficial.
