Volunteer!

HOWA’s programs are successful because of our wonderful volunteers! As the programs for Homes On Wheels Alliance grow and expand, you have many opportunities to contribute to the mission by volunteering your time, skills and experience. Some of the many opportunities include working with:  inventory control, administration, bookkeeping, first aid, hospitality, security, material running, setup and tear down, camp hosting, videography, social media, logo design, and leading seminars.  Whatever your skill level or physical condition HOWA has a volunteer position for you. Please consider joining us!

BYOV for Making Vehicles into Functional Homes

BYOV = Bring Your Own Vehicle.  Items (new-in-box) are provided to nomads without resources to purchase them, for example — portable solar power systems, beds, shelving, etc.

Volunteers are needed for event coordination, registration, item distribution, item usage instruction, videography and video editing, inventory control, hospitality, and more. Applications to volunteer are available one to two months before the event. Check back here or our social media for application announcements.

WRTR and RTR in January

Women’s Rubber Tramp Rendezvous (WRTR) and Rubber Tramp Rendezvous (RTR) – Quartzsite, Arizona

For over a decade, thousands of nomads have gathered together in the Quartzsite, Arizona, area during the month of January to take part in the WRTR and RTR. It is a wonderful opportunity to connect with old friends and make new ones. During the RTRs, there are classes and presentations taught by experienced nomads on the basics of successful nomad living, open house days when nomads show off their homes on wheels, meet and greets with Bob Wells (President of HOWA), and a gigantic free pile where nomads swap items to line their rigs.

These events run between 9-14 days. As you can imagine, it takes a fair number of volunteers to organize and help host this wonderful gathering. Volunteering offers you a way to be involved at a whole different level than just attending.

Volunteer position descriptions and an online application will be posted on the HOWA website around the end of November.
