Welcome! HOWA In-Person Caravans are designed with traveling nomads in mind, especially those who are newer to life on the road and looking for community, connection, and a slower, less overwhelming way to get involved. This caravan runs from October 19-30 near Moab, Utah. In-Person Caravans do not travel from place to place, instead, we stay put for 12–14 days while participants explore the surrounding area at their own pace. Rather than schedules and mandatory activities, we have anchors (hosts) on site who help create opportunities to connect, such as shared meals and potlucks, movie nights, and campfires when conditions allow.
Camping will be on BLM land. Nothing is supplied. Be prepared for 12-14 days of dry camping. Cat holes are illegal here. Human waste must be packed out. Wag bag disposal dumpsters are at Lions Park and at Grand County Transit Hub, both at the intersection of Hwy 191 and 128, across the street from each other (right after you cross the Colorado R. bridge). For more information, check out LeaveNoTrace, as well as the information at TreadLightly. Pack it in, pack it out.
The area is very scenic and close to two national parks, two state parks, and many other points of interest. Caravan attendees may want to take scenic drives, go sightseeing, or hike the many trails. Mike, the anchor/host, is an avid hiker and former guide in the area. He will be happy to lead hikes depending on group interest.
For many of the destinations, you don’t have to be a hiker. There are options to do little or no hiking at scenic viewpoints that are close to a parking area.

Caravan coordinates are: 38.76937, -109.71036
The caravan will be in the Klondike Bluffs area north of Moab. Take Hwy 191 to Klondike Bluffs Road (not North Klondike). From Moab it is 13.8 miles north from the Colorado River Bridge. From I-70/Crescent Junction it is 14.9 miles south.
The first 1/2 mile of Klondike Bluffs Road is slow and bumpy, then it gets better. Klondike Bluffs may be a bit wet and muddy but it’s sandy mud and you’ll be able to drive through it without a problem. Just take it slow and easy and keep rolling through the wet sections. You’ll be heading toward the red rock buttes in the distance. Go 2.6 miles to the intersection of Copper Ridge Safari Rte. Turn right. You’ll see the caravan from there, it is 0.3 miles ahead on your left.

Mike will be the anchor/host. Look for his truck camper.
