APPLICATIONS OPEN THROUGH DEC 15

Volunteer Role Descriptions:

– Create a safe place for RTRs’ participants to relax, visit, and create
– Be welcoming, friendly
– Know when to make conversation, or to provide space
– Be interested in participants’ stories, listen

Possible crafts offered:
– Adult coloring
– Friendship bracelets made from embroidery floss
– Beading projects
– Swedish weaving projects
– Rock painting
– Knitting/Crocheting

-Attend the Volunteer Orientation, Safety, and Training from Noon to 5pm on January 10 at the Quartzsite Town Park.

-Knowledge and experience running sound equipment
-Knowledge and experience managing lapel mics, hand held mics, and muffs
-Able to cover and secure sound equipment daily

– Describe difference between two bulletin boards 

– Restrict postings to 3×5 cards 

– Explain appropriate types of posts

-Monitor and distribute cold weather items

-Set out and put away cold weather items at the beginning and end of the day

Shift Activities Includes at least 2 of the following:

-Small group table games.
-Video games.
-Medium group games on the lawn.
-Large group games on the lawn.

Breaks and Meals:

Ample time for snacks/food from food trucks or personal vehicles.
Eating on the job allowed if still able to lead/play games.
Smoke breaks, bathroom breaks, and mental/physical health breaks provided.

Volunteer Requirements:

-Minimum of 2 volunteers must be in the game area at all times.
-All volunteers required for scheduled large group games.
-Must be able to play and explain tabletop games.
-Act as a judge/referee for small and medium group games.

Encouragements for Volunteers:

-Bring favorite games to play together.
-Share group game ideas prior to the RTRs.
-Bring favorite video games and game systems.
-Games lead will provide a TV for video games.

-Attend the Volunteer Orientation, Safety, and Training from Noon to 5pm on January 10 at the Quartzsite Town Park.

-Videotape on-stage presentations — near stage and from elevated platform — for Online RTRs 

-Videotape and photograph activities at the RTRs for YouTube Videos and Shorts 

-Provide B-Roll for videos 

-Provide drone footage of the activities at the RTRs (must have current license) 

-Attend the Volunteer Orientation, Safety, and Training from Noon to 5pm on January 10 at the Quartzsite Town Park.

-Able to stand and move for long periods of time 

-Able to lift 10 lbs and will ask for assistance if heavier than 10 lbs 

-Able to keep area organized 

-Inform Area Lead if supplies are getting low 

-Pick up and dispose of any trash on ground 

-Distribute poop bags to dog owners 

-Able to communicate clearly, for example — 

— Direct participants to the different areas of the event 

— Info about the event schedule, speakers, classes 

— Info about HOWA 

-Attend the Volunteer Orientation, Safety, and Training from Noon to 5pm on January 10 at the Quartzsite Town Park. 

– Able to stand and walk for long periods of time 

– Past experience in security preferred 

– Observe and relay detailed information regarding situations or individuals with Lead and/or Law Enforcement Officers 

– Anticipates next steps 

– Helps to create an enjoyable and safe experience for participants 

– Able to address violators clearly, authoritatively, and kindly 

– De-escalation skills 

– Request that violators change their behavior, do not enforce 

– If enforcement or action is needed 

– Walkie Talkie the Safety Lead to call law enforcement 

– If an immediate emergency, call 911 yourself 

– If a non-emergent medical situation, walkie talkie Medical Volunteers on site 

– Support other Volunteers as necessary (traffic, stage area, free pile) 

– Current driver’s license to drive HOWA vehicle if volunteering the night shifts 

– Bring bright flashlight for overnight, after sunset, and before sunrise 

– Overnight security volunteers may keep their rigs on site, stealth mode 

-Attend the Volunteer Orientation, Safety, and Training from Noon to 5pm on January 10 at the Quartzsite Town Park. 

– Able to stand and move for long periods
– Physically able to lift 50 lbs and be physically active all-day
– Ask for assistance if item is heavier than 50 lbs.

Volunteers will be assigned to team(s) to accomplish the different tasks listed below:
– Load and unload supplies and equipment onto and off of the trailer
– Set up shade canopies, tables and chairs at identified locations
– Set T-Posts and string bright rope (to prohibit parking on raw desert areas), per plan
– Chalk lines in the outfield grass to designate seating areas, with aisle ways, per directions
– Chalk lines in the main parking lot, per directions
– Set up and secure bulletin boards to back of stand just outside of warning track of right field
– Assemble and place Free Pile tables  (4×8′ sheets secured to A-frame stands)
– Assemble stage
– Set up A-frame signage around the grounds and nearby streets, per directions
– Assemble sound system with Sound Techs
– Distribute boxes of supplies/materials to the appropriate location (buttons, first aid, hospitality, HOWA, etc.)
– Disassemble all, pack in trailer, drive back to the storage unit
– Inventory items before re-loading into the storage unit

-Attend the Volunteer Orientation, Safety, and Training from Noon to 5pm on January 10 at the Quartzsite Town Park. 

-Basic hand and machine sewing skills (advanced skills welcome!).

-Own/travel with a sewing machine and basic sewing supplies like needles, scissors, some thread, pencil, measuring tape/ruler (electricity provided)

-Flexibility to take on a variety of projects (with help from fellow sewers).

-Ability to collaborate, learn, and work with fellow sewing group volunteers.

-Sewing projects might include simple clothing and camping equipment repairs, curtains, cushion covers (including zipper installations).

-You will NOT be asked to provide fabric and other notions to complete the projects.

-Attend the Volunteer Orientation, Safety, and Training from Noon to 5pm on January 10 at the Quartzsite Town Park.

– Setup and take down daily (able to lift and carry up to 85lbs, hand dolly available)

COMPUTERS
– Knowledge and experience setting up laptops for online access on browsers
– Ability to figure out basic computer issues and configurations

ELECTRICAL
– Setup and maintain electrical extension cords to stage, sewing area, Starlink routers, laptop area (sweepstakes, volunteers)
– Assure that extension cord placement is safe and pose no tripping hazards
-Insure that are recharable items (power supplies, walkie talkies, etc.) are recharged each evening.

STARLINK
– Setup up Starlink systems for use for RTRs business
– Able to cover and secure Starlink equipment daily

-Attend the Volunteer Orientation, Safety, and Training from Noon to 5pm on January 10 at the Quartzsite Town Park.

– Able to stand and walk for long periods
– Observant
– Anticipates next steps
– Able to give clear directions both verbally and by using hand & arm gestures, indicating
— Where to drive, or not drive
– – Where to park, or not not park
– Safety vests provided while one shift
– Area leads will have walkie-talkie while on shift

-Attend the Volunteer Orientation, Safety, and Training from Noon to 5pm on January 10 at the Quartzsite Town Park.

 

May work full days, if desired. Includes a lunch break.

– Empty trash receptacles (HOWA’s and the Park’s) between Quail Trail to the south and Senter to the north. 

– Put fresh trash bags in the receptacles after removing the full bags 

– Dispose of trash in the large dumpster at the southeast corner (near Plymouth and Quail Trail), by the jets, near the Free Pile 

-Attend the Volunteer Orientation, Safety, and Training from Noon to 5pm on January 10 at the Quartzsite Town Park.

– Provide info about where to sit 

– Directions to keep aisle ways clear 

– Restrict access to stage and speaker (w/Security’s help) 

– If the speaker does a meet & greet after the presentation, direct those who are waiting to line up (w/Security’s help) 

-Attend the Volunteer Orientation, Safety, and Training from Noon to 5pm on January 10 at the Quartzsite Town Park.

– Help manage line to mic for Q & A 

-Able to sit for long periods 

-Able to communicate clearly 

-Make name buttons for participants (nice handwriting a plus) 

-Keep a donation jar and its contents in view and secured 

-Attend the Volunteer Orientation, Safety, and Training from Noon to 5pm on January 10 at the Quartzsite Town Park.
