HOWA has done it again.
We’ve heard from many people who weren’t sure where to park during the 2026 Rubber Tramp Rendezvous, especially those who are newer to nomadic life. Thanks to two incredible volunteers stepping up to anchor, we’re excited to offer a January In-Person Caravan in Quartzsite, AZ.
This caravan is designed to give people a solid, welcoming place to land during RTR.
After spending the day at the Rubber Tramp Rendezvous, you can head back to the caravan and wind down with others who were likely out there too. Share conversation around the fire ring, or simply relax in your rig in a safe, familiar spot after a full day of meeting fellow nomads.
It’s a continuation of community, before, during, and after RTR, built especially with “new-mads” in mind.
And if you would like to do more than just attend the 2026 Rubber Tramp Rendezvous, there’s still spots to volunteer! Click Here to go to the 2026 RTR Volunteer Page!

Welcome to a safe, supportive place to land as you begin your nomadic journey. This HOWA In-Person Caravan is designed with traveling nomads in mind, especially those who are newer to life on the road and looking for community, connection, and a slower, less overwhelming way to get involved.
This caravan will take place January 5th through January 16th in Quartzsite, AZ. In-Person Caravans do not travel from place to place, instead, we stay put for 12–14 days while participants explore the surrounding area at their own pace. Rather than schedules and mandatory activities, we have anchors (hosts) on site who help create opportunities to connect, such as shared meals and potlucks, movie nights, and campfires when conditions allow.
This caravan intentionally overlaps with the Rubber Tramp Rendezvous, which runs January 7th through January 15th. Because many participants will be attending the Rubber Tramp Rendezvous during the day, this caravan will be more relaxed and less activity-heavy than some others. Think of it as a home base, a familiar place to return to, regroup, and connect with people you recognize while taking part in the larger Rubber Tramp Rendezvous experience.
Coordinates for center camp are:
33°45’44.8″N 114°10’46.0″W
Just about 1000′ down the dirt road after leaving the paved road.

While Pete and his dog Kitty will be in and out during the event supporting the RTR, Craig, our newest In-Person Caravan anchor, with support from Penny and her pup Holly, will be co-anchoring this event. Even with that overlap of the RTR, there will always be experienced HOWA volunteers present to help keep the space welcoming, supportive, and grounded, especially for those attending their first RTR or first In-Person-Caravan event.
Drive in for a bit and you will see the white pop up and Spring Bar set up near the center fire ring.
33°45’44.6″N 114°10’45.7″W is the center campfire pit.

Pete and Kitty will be off to the side in the white Jeep and cargo trailer.

This spot is huge, camp in any spot you would like. There are more, larger spots if you go past center camp to the next couple fingers of land.

Craig with his red Dodge Ram Promaster
&
Penny with her little grey Ford Transit will be parked close”ish” to the center fire pit.

Things to do around Quartzsite, AZ.
Quartzsite may be small, but it’s extremely well set up for nomads, especially during the winter season. For groceries and everyday supplies, Coyote Fresh Grocery Market is a go-to for fresh food and essentials, while Dollar General (or Family Dollar, depending on what’s closest to you) makes it easy to grab inexpensive basics. Need a hot meal or comfort food? The Filiberto’s Mexican Food is quick, filling, and reliable, and Silly Al’s Pizza is a long-time favorite for pizza, cold drinks, and a break from camp cooking.
Quartzsite also makes the practical side of nomad life easy. If you need packages delivered while on the road, Moon Mountain Mail is the standard solution many travelers rely on. For solar help or off-grid troubleshooting, Off the Grid RV and Solar (ask for JR) is a local resource. Dumping trash is straightforward at the Quartzsite Transfer Station, located on 95 north, just outside of town. Showers and laundry are available at Main Street Laundry, and RV Pit Stop can handle propane refills and potable water. Between errands, meals, and the surrounding desert to explore, Quartzsite is one of the easiest places for nomads, especially newer ones, to settle in and focus on community during the Rubber Tramp Rendezvous and the In Person Caravan.
