Welcome! HOWA In-Person Caravans are designed with traveling nomads in mind, especially those who are newer to life on the road and looking for community, connection, and a slower, less overwhelming way to get involved. This caravan runs from July 27 – August 7 near Government Camp Oregon. In-Person Caravans do not travel from place to place, instead, we stay put for 12–14 days while participants explore the surrounding area at their own pace. Rather than schedules and mandatory activities, we have anchors (hosts) on site who help create opportunities to connect, such as shared meals and potlucks, movie nights, and campfires when conditions allow.
All campfires, charcoal or briquette fires, pellet fires, or any other open fires are prohibited per Forest Order across the entire Forest, including in developed campgrounds. Portable cooking stoves, lanterns, and heating devices using liquefied or bottled fuel, such as propane, are still allowed as they can be switched off instantly.
Important Information: Fill your water, gas, and food supply before coming to the camp. There are some services but they are minimal, expensive, and may require traveling a good distance. No RV dump or showers within a reasonable distance. If you wish to contribute to a potluck meal bring enough ingredients to share with three or four people. This is plenty when the other contributions are included.

If you’re coming from Portland, drive east on US 26. Pass the turn to Government Camp and continue on US 26 for about 2 miles to the exit for Oregon 35. Drive about 4 miles on Oregon 35 and turn left into White River Sno-Park.
If you’re driving north on US 26 through the Warm Springs Reservation check that the road is open. There may be closures due the fires.
Look for the anchors/hosts in white RV (Karen) and the white trailer and truck. (Todd) This is a Sno Park where free off-season camping is permitted for 14 days. There’s a lot room so find a spot, get set up, and stop by to introduce yourself. 🙂
Todd’s dog, Liberty, is his service dog so please do not pet or try to engage her.
There are two sets of vault toilets. The ones at the far end of the parking lot are a little cleaner.
